What does a Disability Support Worker do?

As a Disability Support Worker, your main responsibility will be to provide care and support to individuals living with disabilities. 

Personal Care

This include bathing and dressing, as well as supporting individuals with meal preparation, medication management, and other daily living activities

Emotional Support

You may also provide emotional support and companionship, and help individuals living with disabilities to access community activities and events

Empower

Your role as a Disability Support Worker will be to empower individuals living with disabilities to live as independently as possible and to achieve their goals.

 We’ll work with you to create a tailored professional development plan, ensuring that you have the tools and resources you need to provide high-quality care and support.

What qualifications and skills do you need to become a Disability Support Worker?

To become a Disability Support Worker, you will need to have a Certificate III or IV in Disability, or a related qualification. You will also need to have a current First Aid Certificate, a National Police Check, and a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance. Other important skills and qualities for a DSW include:
